Commission Approves Atmos Energy's Partial Stipulated Settlement Agreement

Topeka, KS - Today, the Kansas Corporation Commission (Commission or KCC) approved an Order Approving Partial Stipulated Settlement Agreement; Order on Contested Issues, granting Atmos Energy a return on equity (ROE) of 9.1%, and an overall revenue requirement increase of $4,331,500.

Atmos Energy's application requested a gross annual revenue increase of $7.005 million, an ROE of 10.53%.

Under today's order, an average residential customer's monthly bill will increase by approximately $2.24 per month (or about 8.53%). Customers can expect to see the increase reflected on their bill soon after Atmos Energy files its updated tariffs with the Commission. The last Atmos Energy general rate case before the Commission was in 2012.

Customers are currently paying for $1.76 million of the revenue requirement increase through the Gas System Reliability Surcharge and ad valorem tax surcharge. Approximately $2.5 million of the $4.3 million revenue requirement increase is due to Atmos Energy's investment in Kansas infrastructure, including gas safety and reliability.

Atmos Energy is a natural gas public utility in Kansas pursuant to certificates of convenience and necessity issued by the Commission. Atmos provides retail natural gas service to approximately 129,000 customers in Kansas, in 106 communities and two unincorporated irrigation customers in 32 counties.

The KCC regulates public utilities including telecommunications, natural gas, electric and water companies, and oil and gas producers. The Commission's regulatory oversight of public utilities primarily pertains to rates and terms of service. In order to ensure that customers of regulated utilities are provided sufficient and efficient service at just and reasonable rates - jurisdictional utilities may not change rates without Commission approval.
