KCC Chair Brian Moline Announces Retirement

Brian Moline, Chair of the Kansas Corporation Commission has advised Governor Kathleen Sebelius of his intent to retire from the Commission on June 15, 2007.

Chair Moline has served over 20 years at the Commission as either General Counsel or Commissioner. He was general counsel during the Wolf Creek rate case, the divestiture of AT&T, and other major utility events. As a Commissioner and Chair he has helped guide the Commission through what may be seen as one of the greatest periods of change and transition in the utility regulatory arena with the tremendous technical advances, the opening of markets and competition, the era of mergers, and the great need for energy efficiency and conservation.

"Brian has been a strong voice for fairness and balance in an evolving marketplace," said Governor Kathleen Sebelius. "His commitment to public service is greatly appreciated and he will be missed."

Recognizing his many years of dedication to public service, Moline was awarded the Distinguished Government Service Award by the Kansas Bar Association in 2006. Throughout his many years of public service he as been very active in a variety of professional associations impacting public policy on energy issues, such as NARUC (National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners) and the state committee for Regional Transmission Authority.
