Kansas Energy Office Announces Grant for Home Energy Ratings in Greensburg

The Kansas Energy Office, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), has acquired a grant to provide Home Energy Ratings for residents rebuilding in Greensburg, Kansas.

The Home Energy Rating System provides a comprehensive energy analysis for existing structures as well as ratings based on new home designs. A rating by a certified Home Energy Rater can provide significant savings when determining what is needed to heat and cool a residence.

The Kansas Energy Office has contracted with Brian Wendland to provide Home Energy Ratings for the residents of Greensburg. The grant provided by the Kansas Energy Office will cover the approximate $300 cost of a rating for Greensburg residents.

All Greensburg residents are encouraged to have a Home Energy Rating completed on their home to ensure their home is operating at the highest efficiency possible. Using in-depth modeling, a Home Energy Rating will provide information based on the orientation of the house to the sun, the location of windows and doors, and the overall system needs for a home based on size and energy load. Home Energy Ratings can significantly lower utility bills and provide residents with the information necessary to rebuild at the lowest cost and the highest efficiency.

Interested residents may contact Greensburg Greentown, a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing Greensburg residents with the resources necessary to build efficient and environmentally responsible homes at 620.549.3752 or by visiting their office at 900 E. Kansas Avenue, Greensburg, KS 67054.
