Cloud County Community College in Concordia receives Governor's Energy Award
Cloud County Community College located in Concordia received the Governor's Energy Recognition Award in Energy Education at the Kansas Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency Conference held in Topeka.
In February 2004, Cloud County Community College in partnership with Manhattan Area Technical College accepted the challenge of the Kansas Board of Regents and initiated a totally new program in Wind Power Technology. Under the direction of Dr. Richard Underbakke, president, the program has been updated to reflect new standards of expertise for graduates seeking employment.
Cloud County Community College representatives have regularly attended the annual Kansas Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency conference.
On October 31, 2006, Cloud County Community College in cooperation with the Kansas Farm Bureau, Kansas Farmers Union, Kansas Rural Center, Kansas Energy Office, Kansas Board of Regents and Wind Powering America sponsored a Community Wind Workshop on campus attended by approximately 150 people.
The conference was also streamed to five remote sites. Speakers and panel members were from Minnesota, Iowa, utility companies and the Kansas Energy Office.
In November of 2006, the College Board of Trustees appointed Bruce Graham, Instructor in Wind Energy. Bruce made available an evening class during the 2007 spring semester and completed an internship at the Spearville Wind Energy Facility this past summer.
