KCP&L Settlement Hearing Scheduled for Wednesday

Topeka, KS-The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) will hold a hearing to consider a Stipulation and Agreement reached between Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L), KCC staff, and the Citizens' Utility Ratepayers Board (CURB) regarding KCP&L's application for a rate increase.

9:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Kansas Corporation Commission
First Floor Hearing Room
1500 SW Arrowhead Road
Topeka, Kansas

The parties have asked the Commission to issue a decision by July 24, 2009. The Commission will apply five factors in evaluating whether it is appropriate to approve or deny the stipulation in whole or in part:

  • Has each party had an opportunity to be heard on its reasons for opposing the settlement?
  • Is the stipulation supported by substantial evidence in the record as a whole?
  • Does the agreement conform to applicable law?
  • Will the agreement result in just and reasonable rates?
  • Are the results of the agreement in the public interest, including the interests of customers represented by any party not consenting to the agreement?

A complete copy of KCP&L's application, supporting testimony, and the stipulation and agreement is available at http://kcc.ks.gov/docket/cal.cgi?docket=09-KCPE-246-RTS.
